Revealing Hidden Layers of Art
An international research team has upgraded an imaging method able to unveil, in high-resolution 3D, the structure of layers below the surface of paintings and other objects using TeraView’s terahertz technology. The full article can be read at the CNRS News site here.
Terahertz light lies between infra red and microwaves, and as such has unique properties which enables it to pass through objects and to transmit images and compositional (spectroscopic) information that is ordinarily hidden.
